We
charter an ATR 42 which is a multi-engine aircraft
and can carry up to 40 passengers. The flight from
Winnipeg International Airport to Elk Island Lodge
is approximately one hour and twenty five minutes.
Our flights depart Winnipeg at around 11:30 a.m.
every four days. You can arrive in Winnipeg on
Northwest Airlines from such major cities as
Chicago, Milwaukee and Minneapolis the morning of
your departure date and avoid spending time and
money on hotels and meals in Winnipeg. You can leave
your home and be fishing in Northern Manitoba at our
lodge in the same day.
When you
leave Elk Island Lodge you will be back in Winnipeg
around 4:30 in the afternoon which makes it possible
for you to catch the United Flight bound for
Minneapolis at 6:00 p.m.
For those guests whose flights
cannot connect, we are pleased to make reservations for overnight stays in
Winnipeg. We recommend the
Four Points Sheraton since it is
attached to the Winnipeg Airport and we have
arranged special prices for our
guests. The rate for our guests is approximately
$110 U.S. (single or double occupancy), but is only available if we
book it for you.
For flights to Winnipeg we
have arranged for special pricing through a company
called Continental Travel. This travel agency offers
great advantages, most importantly, you do not have
to stay over a Saturday. To contact our travel
agency, you can call Continental Travel at
1-866-276-8376 and ask for Silvana G. She can also
be emailed at
silvana@continentaltrav.com
and be sure to tell them you have booked with Elk
Island Lodge.

From USA
See list of Canada Customs regulations and
prohibited items
here.
Passports:
Bring your up to date passport!
If yours has expired go
here
to renew a passport.
If you never had one, go
here to acquire a passport.
Allow at least 4 weeks to get your new passport. . .
otherwise apply for an expedited - temporary,
passport if your departure date is within a few
weeks of applying for a new passport. Call customs
for instructions if you have any questions because
laws may change without prior notice.
By Car:
Plan for potential delays at the border crossing of your
choice; one never knows if officers will select your vehicle
to thoroughly inspect as you stand to the side and wait.
Review what you can and cannot transport across the border
into and out of Canada. This means knowing what you will
have to declare or simply cannot bring into Canada and back
into the USA. See list of prohibited items
here.
By Aircraft:
Travel as light as you can! Review the forbidden substances
that will be confiscated by Canadian and U. S. Customs if
you attempt to “carry on” to the aircraft. Look
here for
prohibited “carry on” items. Attach your name and contact
information to each piece of luggage and fishing rod case.
You may need extra time to check your baggage through
customs and to fill out a “declaration form” before going
through customs at the airport check through. So make it a
priority to be early at the airport.
Plan for unexpected weather delays that could add an extra
day at the end of your trip. Unexpected weather and
mechanical issues, on rare occasions, do occur. If you take
daily medications, bring extra just in case your
trip home is delayed for any reason.
Pilots/airlines won’t fly if your safety is compromised.
It’s a good idea to double check your flight departure times
for each leg of your flight to and from Elk Island Lodge. On
rare occasions travel schedules need to be altered; we do
our best to keep our guests well informed of any changes . .
. but, if you are unsure about any aspect of travel from
Winnipeg to Elk Island and back to Winnipeg, be sure to
contact
us so we can make your trip as smooth as possible.
